Golden milk — or haldi doodh — is one of India's oldest wellness rituals. Warm, comforting, and deeply nourishing, it's the perfect way to end your day. Here's how to make it right with high-curcumin Lakadong turmeric.
Ingredients (serves 1)
- 1 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
- ½ tsp PureRoots Gold Lakadong turmeric
- 1 small pinch of freshly ground black pepper
- ½ tsp jaggery or honey (optional, to taste)
- 1 small pinch of cinnamon or cardamom (optional)
Method
- Warm the milk gently in a small pan — don't let it boil.
- Whisk in the turmeric and black pepper until fully combined.
- Simmer on low heat for 3–4 minutes so the turmeric infuses.
- Turn off the heat, stir in jaggery or honey, and pour into your cup.
Why the Black Pepper?
Piperine, the active compound in black pepper, dramatically improves the absorption of curcumin. Even a tiny pinch makes a big difference.
Best Time to Drink It
30–45 minutes before bed is ideal — golden milk is warming, soothing, and helps you wind down. You can also enjoy it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.
